But I am not beyond my eating baked goods days.  What is a girl to do?  I think I'll start praying for God to send me a husband who is a professional baker/chef :)

Granted, you'd have to fiddle w/ your screen so that my image would fit if He grants my wish,  but hey, there are worse ways to spend married life, or so I've heard.  Can you imagine a man who liked feeding you?  Oh bliss!

Feeling any better?

You are absolutely correct, Kris, and I consider making cake part of Basic Survival 101! But you can be darn sure I'm not dressed like the gal in the picture above when I DO make my cake!

Dude, I'm so glad I'm not that little girl. Besides, she has a comb-over. Who gives a 5-year-old a comb-over?

ABIGAIL - THAT IS SO FUNNY!

Bonny... uh, Abigail is my daughter. Why don't we ask her how I would dress to make cake. Actually, a more important question would be what I wear when I eat cake - since I'm very resourceful when it comes to cake. If I can't make it (notice I do NOT use the "B" word), I can always drive to Jewel or Dominicks for their cakes. The dog likes it better that way cuz she gets a bunch on the drive home! (..^ (that's my dog).

I didn't do either of those things. And I certainly NEVER tell anyone I bake OR cook or clean or???? And I don't think there's anyone else in our town who does those sorts of things.

Gwen! LOL... Now, listen verrrrrrrrrry closely as I attempt to utter the word. There was a time in my life that I tried to bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbake. But consider the incongruence of my preparation: I was reared in a culture that embellished the word to include warm hearths, well kempt mothers (like the one above), happy households, rich with delightful aromas and ??? But my mother never bbbbbbbbbbbbbaked (she was a great cook, but the art of "b" annoyed her - I think it had something to do with her mother). We knew where the best bakeries were and became connisseurs of bakeries throughout the world.

So.... as a young wife and mother I thought there were things I was suppose to do. I tried, I really tried. But it's messy too, and, well, crap, you can buy better ones at the grocery store for gosh sakes!

But ABigail and I used the church kitchen to make a gingerbread house one Christmas... we "made memories" and took pictures and giggled as we knew we were pulling one over on the other "Proverbs 31" moms we knew. (Debbie, please take no offence here).

Martha Stewart doesn't cook! She throws parties and tells caterers what to cook. Oh, wow, come to think of it, that's a great idea!
